Harmless at 3 points, Knicks lose to Cleveland
The game starts at a very fast pace, with both teams running and shooting in all directions. This benefits the Cavaliers more, especially Dean Wade, and the Knicks are already on the ropes at the end of the first quarter (35-26). Logically because they are clumsy and lose too many balls.
It’s a little better though, with 10-2 driven by the presence of Mitchell Robinson under the circle. But it is very scarce in this first period (60-54).
The skill problems continue after returning from the locker room. The Knicks can’t score from 3-point range and Jalen Brunson isn’t feeling well. The Cavaliers are simply solid and that’s enough to pull away at the beginning of the last quarter (83-65). The last twelve minutes are anecdotal and Kenny Atkinson’s troops logically win (109-94) after a far from memorable match. Especially for New York.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– Nix’s clumsiness. Finishing the match with a terrible 10/37 on 3-pointers, Mike Brown’s players went through hell. We must not ignore the 16 turnovers, but numerous misses from behind the arc burdened the group. And again, this 27% success rate is “inflated” by 5/10 in the last quarter. After 36 minutes, Karl-Anthony Towns and his teammates had 5/32. Therefore, it is difficult to imagine such a victory in Cleveland.
– The Cavaliers continue their march forward. Donovan Mitchell and company didn’t have a big game, but seriously, they knew how to take advantage of a bad night for the Knicks. After the loss to the Thunder, they moved forward and found themselves with the same score as their evening opponent (37-22).
