Harrison Barnes breaks up Stephon Castle, De’Aaron Fox All-Star offense

When it was announced that the Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry would not participate in the All-Star gamethat left the possibility that San Antonio Spurs getting another choice. With Victor Vembanjam already involved, both De’Aaron Fox and Stephen Castle are preparing All-Star seasons for the Spurs. Neither was selected, and the NBA made up its mind go with Toronto Raptors forward Brandon Ingram instead.
After announcing that Ingram would replace Curry in the All-Star Game, the Spurs veteran Harrison Barnes was in disbelief that neither De’Aaron Fox nor Stephon Castle were named as replacements.
“It would be criminal for him (Castle) and Fox not to take a look. We’re No. 2 in the West,” Barnes said. “I think because of what we’ve done, for the teams below us that have had two All-Stars, I don’t know a case if we’re talking about the impact of winning and playing high-level basketball, why any of them shouldn’t be drafted and/or considered for those spots.”
Stephon Castle was selected to participate in All-Star Weekend as part of the Rising Stars competition along with Spurs teammates Dylan Harper and David Jones Garcia. However, Jones Garcia is injured and cannot participate in the event. Carter Bryant will also represent the Spurs at All-Star Weekend in the slam dunk.
But Castle proved to be an All-Star this year, averaging 16.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.3 steals on 46.8 percent shooting from the field, 28.9 percent from the 3-point line and 72.2 percent from the free throw line.
As for Fox, it’s almost criminal, Barnes said, that he’s only made one All-Star team in his nine-year career so far. This season, he is averaging 19.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.2 steals on 47.9 percent shooting from the field, 34.8 percent from the 3-point line and 79.3 percent from the free throw line.
