Hawks’ Bogdan Bogdanovic snaps historic 3-point streak against Knicks

The Atlanta Hawks he snapped a three-game winning streak on MLK Day against the New York Knicks, but an even longer streak was snapped. Entering the game, Bogdan Bogdanović made a three-pointer in 110 consecutive games, which was the fifth longest streak in NBA history. That the streak is broken against the Knicks, as he went 0-for-4 from three.

Bogdanović did not have a great game, finishing with only one point and two rebounds. He’s been in a shooting slump the past few games, and it’s uncertain whether he’s dealing with an injury or something else is wrong. Bogdanovic has always been a reliable scorer in his career, so it was quite uncharacteristic of him with the way he shoots.

The past few games have not been favorable to Bogdan Bogdanović from three. In their win against the Boston Celtics, Bogdanovic shot 1-for-3 from three and finished with seven points. Against the Chicago Bulls where The Hawks were without Tree YoungJalen Johnson, De’Andre Hunter and Zaccharie Risacher, Bogdanovic finished the game shooting 1-for-10 from three. The night before against the Suns, he shot just 2-for-9 from distance.

It’s been a great year for Bogdanovic after playing some of his best basketball at the Paris Olympics for Team Serbia over the summer. When the NBA season started, Bogdanovic played in the first game against the Brooklyn Nets and was diagnosed with an injury that kept him out of the lineup for a while.

When he returned, he started playing well, as did the entire Hawks bench. Bogdanović was still in and out of the lineup and did not play consecutively, so his playing time this season varied. While he was out, Garrison Matthews stepped up to become the Hawks’ top three-point shooter, but he was in a slump himself.

Hopefully, Bogdanovic can get his three-point shooting going again, and he can make another solid contribution to the Hawks coming off the bench. So far, De’Andre Hunter and Onieka Okongwu have provided a boost to the second unit and helped the Hawks all season when it comes to outscoring the opposing team’s bench. Okongwu played so well in the last few games he started in place of Clint Capela against the Knicks. It’s not certain if this is a permanent lineup, but if it is, it looks like Okongwu is ready for the opportunity.
