Here’s what Mavericks’ Anthony Davis had to say about the swirling trade rumors

Things weren’t going well in Central Texas, like The Dallas Mavericks are in shambles and currently 5-14, with numerous players left out injuries. Now, Davis discussed the Mavericks trade rumors and emphasized his work, according to Mavs beat writer Mike Curtis.

Davis was dealing with a calf injury and has missed the last 14 games. This is a a team that is already without Derrick Lively II few weeks, and trade rumors surrounding Davis are adding fuel to what has been a terrible start for the Mavs. When Davis was on the court, he was productive for the team, averaging 20.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per game while shooting 52 percent from the field. Last season, after coming to the Mavs from the Lakersaveraged 20 points and 10.1 rebounds per contest in nine regular season games.

This isn’t the first time Davis has been in trade rumors. Ironically, he has only played for three teams during his tremendous career since being drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2013. But the Mavericks’ trade from the Lakers was stunning last season, and the firing of general manager Nick Harrison fueled trade rumors for Davis. Since the Mavericks got off to a bad start, some believe that they could fire davis to start a soft rebuild. Whether that will come to fruition will be a topic of conversation as the NBA trade deadline approaches.

for now, Davis will focus on getting back into the game for the Mavericks. With both Lively and Kyrie Irving gone, the Mavs need all the help they can get if they want to try to turn their season around. As the season slips away, the Mavericks need to start putting wins together. The Mavericks next game is on Friday when they travel to Southern California to face the Los Angeles Lakers at Cripto.com Arena.
