Historic victory of the Knicks!

Myles McBride (Knicks) vs. Nets

A burst of pride and a monumental slap. Here’s a recap of the crushing victory of the Nix on THE Networks. The trip was short, but Brooklyn leaves with the XXL suitcase: 120-66 in one of the most unbalanced meetings of the season. A win that New York really needed to settle down and snap a four-game losing streak.

Mike Brown’s players never left any doubt about the fifth pass. Or just two minutes, it’s time for a beginner Egor Demin to hit twice from 3-point range, and the Nets to lead 6-4. Three minutes later, the home team was already ten points ahead. Jalen Brunson maneuvers the game as he wants (11 points in the first quarter). And the entire offense in New York comes alive with rhythm in passing and confident shots. The Knicks go through the initial 14-0 and take the lead (18-6, 6′). Return from Mitchell Robinson adds to their dominance in the air, that of Landry Shamet additional danger due to remote address. And with another 14-3 to end the first act, New York leads 38-20 after 12 minutes. This will be the best, or least bad, offensive quarter of the night for Brooklyn.

The Nets resisted better in the second quarter and slightly raised the aggressiveness cursor. But nothing is easy for Brooklyn, weaned on easy baskets, offensive rebounds or counterattacks. Even less brilliant, the Knicks are simply more talented. Mikal Bridges brings the deficit to 27 lengths after just twenty minutes, and New York leads 60-38 at the break.

28 points in the second period for the Nets…

Was the first period one-sided? What to say about the second… The Nets are constantly behind on defense despite the good will. Brunson is having fun and Karl-Anthony Towns bounced back after three fouls, including two offensive ones in the second quarter. Tandem Shamet – McBride adds another layer by drawing from the corner and the correction gains momentum (86-49, 35′). Alone Zaire Williams tries to shake up his team a bit offensively, but the damage is already done.

And it only gets worse as Mike Brown can afford to go without all five of his own in the fourth quarter. That doesn’t stop the Knicks from getting off to a 16-0 start, led by an underwhelming bench duo of Landry Shamet – Miles McBrideauthored 14 of those 16 drives (32 points between them, 6/6 on 3-pointers for Shamet). The Nets backcourt is hard to see, crushed in desire and disturbingly clumsy (10 points on 3/17 shooting, 5 turnovers, 6 rebounds on 15…) The exact opposite of Mohammed Diawarainteresting for his activity (7 points, 3 rebounds) even if the match is already over. Jordi Fernandez was still forced to take a timeout a minute from the end to prevent the deficit from going over 60 points… He was eventually “capped” at +54 for New York.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

A franchise record for the Knicks. This gap goes down in the annals of the New York franchise. The Knicks have never won by 54 points, breaking the previous record of 48 points set three times in the past (135-87 vs. Pistons in 1968, 139-91 vs. Sixers in 1972, 130-82 vs. Sixers in 1994). The 66 points scored by the Nets is an NBA record for offensive mediocrity this season. Michael Porter Jr. finished as his team’s leading scorer with 12 small points…

Brooklyn, kicking the ball Des Knicks. Beaten four times in a row, New York had to react. It’s done, and done well. The result obviously needs to be put into perspective given what has been suggested to the contrary. But the attack looked much better with more dynamics. And the whole group aligned, from Jalen Brunson to Ariel Hookporti, for 48 minutes.
