As it is Heat star in Adebayo continues to make history for the franchise, Saturday’s start of the team’s back-to-back against the Minnesota Timberwolves marks another milestone for the big man.

As Miami looks to continue its positive momentum this weekend, Saturday’s game is special for the 28-year-old as he goes Alonzo Mourning for the third most games played with the franchise in 594 competitions. “I’m still amazed by all these records that he continues to set for our franchise, because it seemed like Zoe (Mourning) played for us for 20 years,” Spoelstra told ClutchPoints before Saturday’s game against Minnesota. “And I know Zoe was out with illness and everything, but those early years seemed like double or triple the time, but it shows you, Bam’s consistency, his consistency, he’s a rock of consistency. At the end of the day, that’s the talent in this league, and he’s found a way to take that and be available and continue to grow as a player and do amazing things.”

In 26 games so far this season, Adebayo is averaging 17.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 46.2 percent from the field.

There is no denying how much a Adebayo’s cornerstone is for the Heatwhich was constantly repeated by coaches, current and former players. One figure who praised Adebayo for his representation of Miami is Wade, who is considered the greatest player in franchise history.

Speaking after erecting his statue outside the Kasey Center, Wade spoke at length about Adebayo to be a flag bearer for the Heat, just like him, Haslem and many others. With Adebayo joining the ranks of Wade and Haslem in many statistical categories, he has already cemented himself a major legacy with the franchise.

“We talk a lot, we always have, UD, myself, the organization has talked to Bama (Adebayo) at this level for a long time,” Wade told ClutchPoints on Oct. 27. “And it’s not pressure, it’s just an opportunity. I mentioned Alonso Mourning, I mentioned Udonis Haslem. I mentioned Bam, and that’s with men. respect, because we see him as someone who will continue to take everything that we’ve learned here and everything that we’ve passed on to make this organization successful.”

“And you don’t have those players; they don’t come around very often,” Wade said. “You have a lot of talented players, you have people doing great things. You don’t have cornerstone individuals that can take your culture and keep it going. I just talked about that and I talked to him.”

Adebayo continues to lead Miami as he continues to climb the Miami rankings while also helping the team improve in the current season as they look to return to their winning ways.
