How did Suns’ Grayson Allen stay patient with quad injury?

PHOENIX – Seven games. That’s it Phoenix Suns sniper Grayson Allen missed with a quad injurybut it felt longer than he expected. What started as accidental contact on a drive to the basket led to roughly two to three weeks of missed time.
When the recovery seemed to be on a positive trend, he took a step back. However, he made his first appearance since Nov. 13 against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.
Although he was 3-13 from the field against Denver, he had plenty of looks that didn’t pan out. after all, Allen had a master class for the Sun earlier in the month with a 42 point gem.
Regardless of the stat line, he looked comfortable with the starting unit and showed no signs of a long-term injury. However, the sniper explained a little more about it his recovery from injury.
“I kept feeling like it was 1 or 2 more days, and that 1 or 2 days turned into another day or 2, and that’s how it went,” Allen said in the team’s locker room after the game.
“But it also helped because most of the time I was able to do a lot of basketball stuff, so I didn’t feel like I had to go back or anything crazy.”
Grayson Allen shared with @amanda_pflugrad how he remained patient with the healing process with the right quad contusion.

Grayson Allen returns the gap to the Suns
Although the Phoenix continue to show their offensive creativity, the loss of Allen has forced them to become even more creative. At the same time, it proves how valuable he is as a 3-point shooter at over 40%.
Guys like Devin Booker and Dillon Brooks had more limited space. They are constantly doubled over and have to force a series of particularly ineffective shots.
But that’s where Allen’s return comes into play. His role is not only a shooter, but also a floor spacer that opens the lanes for driving and cuttingand may even allow the Suns to play a potentially 5-out offense.
Despite the hypotheticals and what he could bring, he admits that the frustration of how his injury happened really ate away at him.
“It was really frustrating, especially since this is another freak,” Allen said. “I didn’t feel like it was a crazy play. There was really nothing I could have done in the preseason or over the summer to feel like I could have prevented it. It was just wrong place, wrong time, hit in the wrong place, so it was an unfortunate play.
“So it was frustrating, but we had a ton of great wins and a bunch of guys stepped up. It was definitely fun watching those guys battle, but I’m glad I came back tonight.”
Allen will be ready for the Suns’ game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday. Maybe he knocked off the rust on Saturday, so Phoenix could see another vintage performance in the City of Angels.
