How on earth did Cam Thomas take this shot?

on Sunday, The Brooklyn Nets are down to 0-3 in the young 2025-26 NBA season with a narrow loss at home against Victor Vembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. Down by 21 points at halftime, the Nets showed impressive resilience to keep things interesting down the stretch, but ultimately were unable to make enough plays in crunch time to earn their first win of the season.

It was an impressive performance for the Nets guard Cam Thomaswho scored 40 points in the loss, including an a series of heavy blows.

Arguably his best shot of the night came in the fourth quarter in an isolated situation against Spurs winger Devin Vassell, with Thomas hitting a couple of crosses and then pulling away for a deep corner three that found the bottom of the net at an impossible angle.

It was a good reminder of what an elite scorer Thomas can be when he succeeds, which he certainly did on Sunday in San Antonio. Thomas will likely have many of these scoring outbursts this season as one of the options for this Nets team.

Over the summer, the Brooklyn Nets ended up using all five of their first-round picks on rookies in the 2025 NBA Draft class, as opposed to trading one or more of those selections, as many expected them to do. That being the case, the Nets are fully in a rebuilding era as they look to work toward their first success in the post-Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving era.

The Nets also traded Cam Johnson to the Denver Nuggets for former NBA champion Michael Porter Jr., who they hope can provide a veteran presence in one of the NBA’s youngest locker rooms.

Meanwhile, Thomas will have plenty of opportunities to capitalize on his shot attempts this season on a Nets team that is considered among the worst in the league.
