How Stephen Curry’s departure to Under Armor was influenced by Kaitlin Clark

The The Golden State Warriors were a disappointment so far in 2025-26, is currently 9-9 heading into Monday night’s matchup against the Utah Jazz. Stephen Curry continued to impress for most of the year, but Golden State hasn’t been able to string together wins, especially on the road, with any consistency.
It was recently revealed that Curry will be parting ways with Under Armour, the athletic company with which he has released several signature shoes.
Now, more light is pouring in about how the Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark VNBA factored into that decision.
“Sources noted that one ‘pain point’ for Curry was last year’s attempt to recruit Fever G Kaitlyn Clarke to join his brand,” Sports Business Journal reported, via BLOOMBERG NEWS.
Instead, Clark decided to stay at Nike, where she remains a key figure to this day.
Meanwhile, Curry is sure to be approached by other big brands in the coming weeks in search of his next sports brand partnership after spending most of his NBA career with Under Armour, starting in 2013.
However, right now his focus is on the Warriors, who have been extremely underwhelming this season despite Curry and Jimmy Butler still playing solid basketball.
The Warriors’ depth has been an issue again this season, and the team has also had to navigate a tough travel schedule so far this year, which is why head coach Steve Kerr blasted the league during a recent press conference.
Still, if the Warriors are able to stay relatively healthy, they will be expected to start turning things around when the schedule eases up.
The Warriors and Jazz are scheduled to tip things off Monday night at 10:00 PM ET from the Bay Area.
