How Victor Wembanyama violently dismissed Lakers’ win as a ‘reset’

We are going to the game against a Los Angeles Lakers a team that was just two losses out of second place in the Western Conference standings, Victor Vembanyama and the The San Antonio Spurs have lost four of their last six games.
It’s a lull that has mostly come against losing teams and has followed a run in which the silver and black have won eight of nine games, including three against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
With a score of 107-91 against LA, San Antonio got back into the win column.
ClutchPoints asked Wemby if the win could serve as a bit of a reset after the team’s struggles since Christmas.
“I think as of now in my third season, what I’ve seen, no,” the Spurs superstar stated.
“Sometimes a win like this can be a reset when you’re on a bad losing streak or the opposite can happen if you’re on a winning streak, you know,” Vembanyama continued.
The 2023 first overall pick has endured a few rough stretches since entering the NBA. The Spurs won just 22 games in his rookie season and were six games under .500 when his second year ended prematurely in February due to blood clots.
“There are too many games. It’s too easy to get it wrong again, so it’s hard to answer the call every night,” Wembanyama said in concluding his answer to ClutchPoints.

The Spurs’ win against the Lakers comes in the midst of a slump
The night before San Antonio took down Los Angeles, they lost to a depleted Memphis Grizzlies team it was 15-20 in the competition.
“We did what we do, tried to follow the game plan,” Wemby said of his team’s response a day later against the Lakers. “I think it shows in their score. I believe they had 91 points, so just effort. I know it’s easier to be locked in a high-stakes game like this, but we have to figure that out for the other games.”
Teams near the top of the NBA standings haven’t proven to be a problem for the Spurs. In addition to the aforementioned wins against a Thunder core that once again has the best record in the league, they are beat the New York KnicksDenver Nuggets, Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors.
On the other hand, since Dec. 27, San Antonio has lost to the Utah Jazz, who are 13-24 through 37 games, the Cleveland Cavaliers, who entered the game at just .500, and a Portland Trail Blazers squad that was still four games under .500 after a win against the Spurs. before the loss in Memphis which preceded the Lakers contest.
“It was interesting because right now we are figuring out how to help our teammates,” Vembanyama admitted. “Sometimes you’re constantly sloppy or maybe there are little dips in confidence.”
Scary for most teams, perhaps the upcoming stretch for Spurs is exactly what they need to keep in mind their success against the candidate. They face the Boston Celtics for the first time this season before a second meeting with the Minnesota Timberwolves and then again with the Thunder.
“We’re just getting it. It’s just repetition, up and down,” Vembanyama concluded. “Downfalls are going to happen, but we’re really together to help teammates, whoever they are, from one to 18 to get out of this crisis.”
