Hubert Davis gives information on Seth Trimble’s injury

The No. 16 North Carolina basketball team is scheduled to face the No. 18 Kentucky Wildcats in a blue-blood matchup at Rupp Arena in Leckington on Tuesday night. However, they will not be at full strength, as they are be without star senior running back Seth Trimblewho is still recovering from an injury.

Trimble suffered a bone fracture in his left forearm while working earlier this November and has since missed five games. He could have given North Carolina basketball a big advantage against the No. 11 Michigan State Spartans last Thursday, as the Tar Heels missed him badly in a 74-58 loss to Tom Izzo’s team at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, Florida.

On Monday, the Tar Heels’ head coach Hubert Davis provided by an optimistic update about Trimble’s status.

“I don’t have a definitive answer on when he’s going to be back, but he’s progressing quickly and really well,” Davis told reporters (h/t Andrew Jones of 247 Sports). “He’s shooting, dribbling, preparing. And so he’s in a really good place, and I’m looking forward to when he can get back on the floor.”

Trimble has seen action in two games so far in the 2025-26 college basketball season. He scored 12 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field in North Carolina’s 94-54 rout of the Central Arkansas Bears and 17 points on 7-for-17 shooting in the Tar Heels’ win over then-No. 19 Kansas Jayhawks.

Meanwhile, Luka Bogavac was inserted into North Carolina’s lineup due to Trimble’s absence. The 22-year-old Montenegrin has been a solid contributor to the team lately and scored 11 points with five assists in the loss to the Spartans.
