Huge move due to injury to DeForest Buckner before the Seahawks game

The Indianapolis Colts they lost their third straight game in Week 14. The Jacksonville Jaguars moved past Indianapolis for the division lead with a 36-19 victory last week. Now 8-5, the Colts’ playoff hopes have taken a serious hit Daniel Jones’ Achilles tear at the end of the season against the Jaguars.

After a devastating injury, Philip Rivers stepped up and volunteered to take Jones’ place. Despite retiring a half-decade ago, the 44-year-old quarterback is willing to match to save Indy’s season. Unbelievable, The Colts signed Rivers. And even more amazingly, he could start for the team against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15.

While it’s unclear whether the addition of Rivers will help the offense, Indianapolis’ defense could soon get a big boost. The Colts determined DeForest Buckner to return from the injured reserve, according to Ari Meirov from the 33rd team. Buckner returned to practice on Wednesday as a limited participant.

The 10-year defensive tackle has been sidelined for the last four games with a neck injury. Buckner landed on IR following the Colts’ Week 9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team went 1-3 without the former first-round pick. But he could return to the field when the former is eligible.

Indianapolis opened Buckner’s 21-day window and he returned to practice. It is unclear if he will play in Week 15. However, the Colts have no time to spare as their playoff chances dwindle.

Although Indy trails only Jacksonville in the AFC South, the red-hot Houston Texans have won five straight games to leapfrog the Colts. And Indianapolis lost to both the Texans and Jaguars in back-to-back weeks.

The upcoming schedule is tough, with games against NFC West powerhouses. The Seahawks are up next, with the San Francisco 49ers waiting in a Week 16 game on Monday Night Football. Indy then closes out the season with divisional showdowns against Jacksonville and Houston.

If the Colts can hang through the next two weeks and/or get some help with the AFC South losses, they’ll have a chance to make up at the end of the season. But if Indianapolis can’t turn things around, the team could come complain about their comprehensive trade Sos Gardner within the deadline.
