“I thought my relationship with Jeanie Buss was good”
Los Angeles is never boring. Especially since this season is special, with a transition in between LeBron James etc Luka Dončić as well as the sale of the club, from the Buss family to Mark Walter, although Jeanie Buss currently retains control of the “Purple & Gold” sports operations.
And the ESPN article about the family tensions following the death of Jerry Buss, which included references to the tensions between his daughter and “the king”, caused a lot of reaction.
“It’s not fair, given everything LeBron has done for the Lakers, that he’s involved in this family dispute.”immediately responded to Jeannie Bass, who was said to be irritated by LeBron James’ attitude, especially after the Westbrook fiasco. “To say it wasn’t appreciated is not true and completely unfair to him.”
Rich Paul, the winger’s agent, also reacted, explaining that “there was no smoke without fire”. It is clear that the two camps do not deny the tensions, even if it seems to be the norm between two partners who sometimes have different goals and different visions, in a universe as competitive as the NBA…
“I thought (my relationship with Jeanie Buss) was good, but, you know, other people might see things differently., LeBron James replied. “There’s always two versions. … From my arrival, to this day, I’ve always wanted to represent the franchise with respect, honor and dignity. And I’d even say with loyalty. I mean, hell, I’ve played here longer than any franchise other than Cleveland.”
Is a transfer possible before the trade deadline?
Certainly, but the best scorer in NBA history played for only three franchises (Cavaliers, Lakers and Heat). In any case, after his non-extension last summer and his clear loss of influence with the Los Angeles leadership, we can clearly sense that his adventure in Los Angeles is coming to an end.
“Ultimately, when I came to this franchise, my goal was to bring back excellence.” that’s how he remembers it. “Everything I saw growing up with the Lakers…Obviously I didn’t get a chance to see the Showtime era, but I know the history. Then, in the early 2000s, with Shaq (O’Neal) and Kobe (Bryant), and then what Kobe accomplished and those few seasons with him and Pau (Gasol), it was: How could I get the Lakers back that feeling? to do it with 14, 16 other guys in winning a title. That’s always been my way of thinking.
Is he willing to set aside his “no-trade clause” to consider a trade by the Feb. 5 “trade deadline,” when he points out that he still has “cards in hand” ? “It’s good. It’s good” he blurted out without reply.smiling, before leaving the locker room, saying that “They’re all crazy.”
