If the Raiders cut Pete Carroll, could they stay in the AFC West?

The NFL season is coming to an end, and as some teams prepare to compete in high-stakes playoff games, others teams, such as the Las Vegas Raiders, are weighing their futures on the eve of the off-season.

According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, the Raiders could potentially move on from head coach Pete Carroll. In addition, he also suggested that the franchise could hire an individual such as Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.

“I feel like a lot of people are looking at Las Vegas because of the potential that Pete Carroll is done with the Raiders. It’s been pretty bad and they seem to be positioning themselves for the No. 1 pick, so the theory is that they might want someone else to develop that selection if it’s a quarterback,” Graziano wrote.

“I also think Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph will get another shot, and Miami and Las Vegas are strong options for a variety of reasons if those teams decide to make changes.”

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Carroll stuck with it he has ownership support as the campaign ends.

“I do. Out of all the guys I’ve talked to, I feel like I have their support,” Carroll told reporters. “What does that mean? I don’t know, but our talks were really good.”

The The Raiders fell 34-10 to the New York Giants in Week 17 and could secure the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft if they lose to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 18.

It remains to be seen what Carroll’s fate will be, but it looks like Las Vegas could be open to change.
