Illinois’ Keelan Boswell gets a big injury update ahead of Indiana

No. 8 Illinois Men’s Basketball coming off a tough 92-90 OT loss to Wisconsin. They have a critical game against Indiana on Sunday, but will Keelan Boswell be available?

On Friday, head coach Brad Underwood said Boswell potential return will be a game-day decision, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Also, it will be unlimited in practice.

In January, Boswell broke his arm during team training. Boswell is averaging 14.3 points per game and shooting 47.8% from the field. Meanwhile, Illinois is 20-5 and has an 11-3 Big Ten record.

He last played on Jan. 17 against Minnesota, which the Illini won 77-67. In that game, he played 30 minutes and scored 9 points.

Illinois suffered back-to-back overtime losses, including at No. 10 Michigan State on Feb. 7, 85-82.

After Sunday, the Illini will have five more games on the regular schedule. On Wednesday, February 18, they will travel to USC. After that, they will stay in California to play UCLA on February 21st.

On Friday, Feb. 27, they return home to play No. 2 Michigan. Next, the Illini will play Oregon on March 3. Finally, the Illini will close out the regular season against Maryland on March 8.

Boswell is in his senior season. Early in the year, he was the catalyst for the Illini getting off to a hot start, not only in scoring, but also by being a lockdown defender.

Along the way, he saw his field goal and 3-point shooting percentages increase from the year before. Last season, Boswell shot 42.7% from the field. He also shot 24.5% from the 3-point line and currently sits at 30.8%.
