Immanuel Quickley sends a special shout out to an unheralded teammate
The The Toronto Raptors have been humiliated in recent daysafter being handed humble pie by the Charlotte Hornets in a 118-111 overtime loss on Saturday, and knocked down a peg or two in Sunday night’s 24 loss to the New York Knicks. But on Tuesday, the Raptors got back to winning ways as they withstood a tough Portland Trail Blazers offense en route to a 121-118 victory.
Like this The Raptors team usually works all season long, they won as a team — with three players scoring 20 or more points in Scottie Barnes (28), Immanuel Quickley (23) and Brandon Ingram (21). But beyond the goal column or even the box score, Quickley wanted to acknowledge his unheralded teammate in Jakob Poeltl.
Poeltl may have finished with a rather pedestrian night with 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists, but make no mistake about itQuickley recognizes how important he is to the Raptors.
“I have to give credit to Jakob. He’s one of the best screensetters I’ve played with and he’s such an unselfish player. … He does so many things for us that don’t show up on the stat sheet. You have to give him a lot of credit. We appreciate him a lot,” Quickley said, per TSN’s Josh Levenberg.
Indeed, Poeltl is a key piece to this Raptors team, and many of his contributions go beyond statistics. He was sorely missed Sunday night in their 118-94 loss to the Knicks, and it’s no coincidence that they played much better with him on the court.
The Raptors are holding on for an important win against the Blazers

With the Raptors back home, it was important for them to get back on the winning track, especially against a Blazers team that was missing several key guys. Given their lofty aspirations in a weakened Eastern Conference, they need to get every win they can, and they did, even though they almost lost it in the end with Portland is coming back hard.
The Raptors will return to action on Thursday when they take on the Los Angeles Lakers at home at 7:30 PM ET
