In Cleveland, the energy of the carriers raises questions

The HorsemenCertainly, the Cavaliers count your wounded right now, but frustration is growing in Ohio, where players from Kenny Atkinson remained on three consecutive losses and dropped out of the Top 6 in the East. With 12 wins and 9 losses, Cleveland is a far cry from last season’s passing times…

And it’s surprisingly a sophomore Jailon Tison which is sounding the alarm after the failure against Boston.

“I just think we’re on autopilot”, he swears. “As a team, we’re not motivated enough. What happened to us last year is happening this year. We’re dominating the court. We’re getting wins on rebounds. It’s a question of persistence, right? It’s a recurring theme, and it’s up to us to solve it. We have three of the best players in the NBA. They have three of the best players in the NBA. They’re an enviable top five out of five players in the NBA. But talent is not enough to win titles, it’s all the small details, the fighting spirit, the thirst for victory.

The Cavs don’t fight back

Are these Horsemen too “nice”? After the defeat to the Rockets, who dominated them physically, Kenny Atkinson admitted that his team was not made for “this kind of battle”…

“Everybody wants to improve, everybody wants to win, everybody wants to do their best, but right now that’s not the case.”admits Evan Mobley, who collected 27 points and 14 rebounds against the Celtics. “We have to find a way to fix it. Frankly, frustration can help a little.”

This time, the coach still wanted to reassure, explaining that “the sky wasn’t falling” on the team’s head, but Jaylon Tyson reiterated that the starters (and veterans?) need to shake things up.

“It’s up to all of us to feed off their energy”he concludes, speaking of substitutes. “Like (Donovan Mitchell) said, it should never be up to young guys and role players to bring energy every time, right? Everybody has to bring energy. Everybody has to do their best.”
