Indiana goes into full tank mode against the Nets after beating the Knicks

The Indiana Pacers take no chances during Wednesday’s tank match against Brooklyn Nets. Monitoring Tuesday’s overtime win over the New York Knicks, Rick Carlisle‘s team is resting almost its entire rotation against Brooklyn.

With Tyrese Halliburton, Ivica Zubac and Obi Topin already out, the Pacers shut down Pascal Siakam (pain in left hamstring), Andrew Nembhardt (treatment of lower back injuries), Aaron Nesmith (lower back soreness) and TJ McConnell (slight calf soreness) against the Nets. Micah Potter (sprained left ankle) is questionable.

Depending on Potter’s status, Indiana will have eight players available Wednesday: Ben Shepard, Quenton Jackson, Cam Jones, Jerus Walker, Jay Huff, Kobe Brown, Thelon Peters and Ethan Thompson.

The Nets will be without Michael Porter Jr. (right knee tendinitis), while Nick Claxton (right hip pain) is doubtful.

The Pacers enter Wednesday’s matchup two games ahead of the Nets for the No. 2 pick in the draft lottery positions. Their lengthy injury report will add to concerns about the NBA’s tank problem.

The Washington Wizards similarly rested nearly their entire rotation against Brooklyn on Saturday. The Sacramento Kings do the same on Wednesday against the Jazz. meanwhile, the jazz released their two best playersLauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr., throughout the fourth quarter of the last two games.

Indiana, Washington and Utah owe their 2026 first-round picks to other protected teams. The Pacers traded their 2026 first-rounder protected 1-4 and 9-30 Los Angeles Clippers for Zubac at the deadline. Meanwhile, the Wizards owe their top-8 protected pick to the Knicks and the Jazz owe their top-8 protected pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

After Tuesday’s win, the Pacers chances to keep their first round pick fell on 44 percentaccording to ESPN.
