Insider rekindles Warriors trade for Myles Turner, Trey Murphy III

The The Golden State Warriors are out off to a tepid start to the 2025-26 NBA season, currently at 13-12 after a largely successful East Coast road trip over the past week. The Warriors came out of the gates strong during the first week of the season, but have since fallen back to Earth, leading some to wonder if it’s Golden State’s last chance at another championship in the Stephen Curry era he may have already walked past them.

Needless to say, fans are already cranking up the trade machines on the Warriors front, with NBA insider Jake Fisher recently reporting on some possible names which Golden State could explore.

“New Orleans’ 3-22 start, truth be told, only increased interest in foreign trade Trey Murphy III,” Fisher reported at the urging of Mark Stein.

“…The Pelicans are not shutting down such investigations entirely as they have done in the past.”

Fisher also noted that “An interesting potential salary for Golden State in Cummings’ salary range would be a Bucks center Miles Turnerwho is making $25.1 million this season. Don’t forget the Warriors have shown real interest in Turner in the past…”

Most recently Chris Dodson of ClutchPoints reported that “The Golden State Warriors are among a handful of Western Conference contenders actively exploring ways to acquire (Herb) Jones.”

Jones is of course another Pelicans wing that could be a better fit on a contending team.

ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel also reported on the Warriors’ interest in Myles Turner last season, dates from his time with the Indiana Pacers, who reached the NBA Finals before being released in free agency.

Overall, the Warriors could certainly use a three-and-D wing like Murphy or Jones, as well as a big man like Turner, especially considering that the Al Horford signing is starting to look like one of the biggest busts in recent NBA free agency history.

Either way, the Warriors will be hoping to have Curry back in the lineup on Friday night when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves.
