Insiders are throwing cold water on DeMar DeRozan in the Warriors trade

The Golden State Warriors could be a team ready to make moves before the deadline, and it makes perfect sense why. With Jimmy Butler goes all the way out season, it will be imperative for them to find quality wing depth. It’s also a change that they could trade Jonathan Cummings after his request, but they don’t to have to deal with him.
One player who has been mentioned over time for The Warriors were DeMar DeRozana veteran who can still get a bucket wherever he wants. While it sounds like a good idea, it’s probably not the kind of value they’re looking for, says Brett Siegel of Clutch Points.
“But there’s a big question, ‘Is that really the kind of value and demand you’re looking for in a Jonathan Cummings trade, if you’re Mike Dunleavy Jr.?’ And I think their aspirations are much higher than that. And I think over the next 14 days, we’re going to see the Warriors be very aggressive to try to go out and find a player that they’ve been targeting for a long time,” Siegel told Sactown Sports 1140.
It doesn’t sound like the Warriors have shown interest in DeRozan and are looking for someone who can contribute now and in the future, like Trey Murphy III, according to The Athletic.
“As has been widely reported, Golden State’s strong interest in New Orleans’ Trey Murphy III certainly remains,” the Athletic wrote. “It’s just a question of whether New Orleans will change its current stance and make a deal on that front. (The same goes for the Pelicans’ Herb Jones.)”
Dunleavy looks like he’s trying to make sure that if he does make a deal, it’s something that just isn’t helping this season, which is understandable. Murphy is a young player with the skills to fit the Warriors and how they play, but the only problem is how much it would cost to get him.
