Cooper Flagg is stated in the injury report with a splint for the right thumb, and he missed the last game for the Mavericks. With injuries to the team, Flagg was instrumental for the Mavericks in his rookie season, and continues to improve throughout the season.
It doesn’t sound like Flagg’s injury is that serious, so hopefully he can return as the team tries to stay alive in the NBA for a chance to go to Las Vegas.

Cooper Flagg’s injury status against the Pelicans
Flagg is listed as available against the Pelicans, meaning he’ll be back in the lineup. That’s huge for the Mavericks, especially with what Flagg has been bringing to the court on both sides of the ball. There’s no doubt he’s still adjusting, and he’s had to go through the ups and downs of playing a new position.
To start the season, Flagg played point guardbut lately he has been playing his natural position. The rookie recently spoke about the move and was candid.
“Being a point guard comes with a lot of responsibility,” Flagg said. “I don’t know if I was ready for it right away. That doesn’t mean I can’t get back at it or improve … but lately it’s better to have someone else help with the pressure.”
With Flagg returning to his bread and butter, it would make sense for him to be more productive, and it showed in his stats. Once everyone is back healthy, he should be even more comfortable in his role, but it’s good for him to get these reps now, early in his career.
