Is Darius Garland playing tonight? Cavs vs. 76ers injury report

The The Cleveland Cavaliers will play the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night for the second time in three days at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Darius Garland was listed on the injury report with great pain in the right big toe. Sam Merrill is also out with a sprained right hand, so the Cavs will be without two key players.

Darius Garland’s injury status vs. 76ers

When it comes to the question of whether Darius Garland game tonight against the 76ers, the answer is no.

Garland played in Wednesday’s game, scoring 20 points with seven assists, three rebounds and a steal in the first 23 minutes of action. Unfortunately, after Philadelphia trapped him and turned it over late in the third quarter, Garland tried to strip the ball and ended up straining his leg too much. Frustrated, he limped to the bench.

When Cavs head coach Stephen Spiro checked it out, they went back to Cleveland’s locker room. He was ruled out early in the fourth quarter with what was then believed to be a right leg injury. It has now been updated to a right big toe injury, specifically, which is not the same left toe injury that Garland had surgery on last June.

Meryl’s right handhowever, it’s the same one that got hurt against the Milwaukee Bucks in late November; he sharpened again in the first half and did not return after halftime. In addition to those two, Cleveland will also be without Dean Wade, Luke Travers and Chris Livingston. Max Struss is making progress, but he is not quite ready to return while still recovering from surgery on his left foot.

The 76ers say Joel Embiid and Paul George are likely to play. Kelly Oubre Jr. is available, while Dominique Barlow is questionable with a back contusion.
