Is Giannis Antetokounmpo playing tonight? Bucks vs. Knicks injury report

The Milwaukee Bucks enter tonight’s NBA Cup matchup against the New York Knicks, who are in desperate need of momentum, and preferably to get their superstar back on the floor. Milwaukee, now 8-11 and riding a six-game losing streak, struggled without Giannis Antetokounmpo, who missed four straight games with a left adductor strain.

As the defending NBA champions, time is running out for the Bucks to salvage their hopes in the group stage.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s injury status against the Knicks

Antetokounmpo is officially listed as questionable for tonight’s game. The two-time MVP has been sidelined with an adductor problem, and the Bucks have noticeably stalled offensively and defensively in his absence.

Prior to the injury, Giannis was averaging a dominant 31.2 points, 10.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists on a staggering 62.9% shooting efficiency and 50% from deep.

Without him, Milwaukee’s spacing, rim pressure and transition game have plummeted. If he returns, Milwaukee immediately regains its identity and the best chance to stay alive in the NBA Cup.

Bucks injury status

In addition to Giannis’ uncertain availability, the Bucks are still lacking in other areas. Kevin Porter Jr. is sidelined after meniscus surgery, and Bull Prince is out recovering from neck surgery.

Alec Antetokounmpo remains unavailable on a two-way assignment. Milwaukee’s rotation has been weak, forcing key starters to shoulder heavier loads on offense, a formula that hasn’t been enough during this recent slump.

Knicks injury status

Meanwhile, the Knicks are dealing with injuries of their own. OG Anunoby continues to miss time with a strained left hamstring, removing one of New York’s most important defenders from the lineup.

Landry Shamet is also out with a sprained right shoulder, which weakens the Knicks’ depth at guard and lateral shooting. Despite this, New York remained competitive in NBA playoffs and relied heavily on Jaylen Brunson and Towns.

Whether Giannis will suit up will ultimately be decided how competitive this game is getting and whether Milwaukee’s NBA title defense will survive another night.
