Joel Embiid is on the injury report for this game, currently listed as questionable with a right knee injury. Given his question mark on injury report, There are currently doubts as to whether Joel Embiid will be able to compete against the Lakers on Thursday. Embiid most recently played in the 76ers’ loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night, but has been in and out of the lineup all year with a knee problem.
Joining Embiid on the 76ers injury report is Paul George, who is currently serving a 25-game league suspension for taking a banned substance.
Meanwhile, the Lakers will be without center Jackson Hayes, who is also serving a league suspension after pushing a mascot.
The 76ers were active at Wednesday’s trade deadline, trading Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for compensation. McCain was on track to win Rookie of the Year honors last season before an injury cut his year short, and he has struggled to find minutes in Nick Nurse’s rotation this season, thanks in large part to the emergence of standout rookie VJ Edgecombe.
The 76ers will take on a Lakers team that recently traded Gabe Vincent to the Atlanta Hawks for Luke Kennard, and will be playing their first game since returning from an extended road trip.
