The The Brooklyn Nets will look to bounce back from the heartbreaking loss when they are hosts Los Angeles Clippers on Friday. They may be without their best player, Michael Porter Jr., as they try to do so.
Porter Jr. was a late addition Brooklyn’s injury report for right knee pain. The Nets listed him as probable. While a probable designation usually indicates a hitter has a high chance to play, his reduction from available adds uncertainty to his playing status.
After missing just four games over the previous two seasons, Porter Jr. continued to look rejuvenated with the Nets. The 27-year-old has played in 28 of Brooklyn’s 34 games this season. However, most of those absences were due to rest during back-to-back games, while the other was for personal reasons.

Porter Jr. is enjoying the best season of his career while emerging as the Nets’ No. 1 option following his offseason trade from the Nuggets. He averaged 26.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists on .495/.411/.828 shooting. He, Nikola Jokic and Anthony Edwards are the only NBA players averaging 26-plus points at that efficiency.
Most impressively, Brooklyn is 11-11 over Porter Jr.’s last 22 appearances. The Nets are 0-6 in the games he has missed, scoring an average of 102.7 points and giving up an average of 18.7 points. Brooklyn has lost four of its last five games after going 7-3, and Porter Jr. missed back-to-back games last week with an illness.
meanwhile, The Clippers have won seven of their last nine games after starting the season 6-21. Kawhi Leonard is questionable for the Nets’ game on Friday with a sprained right ankle. Bogdan Bogdanovic (left hamstring; injury management) and Derrick Jones Jr. (right knee; sprain) will not play.
