Isaiah Collier, Lauri Markkanen connect for clinical alley-oop

The Utah Jazz used a defibrillator to revive themselves and their fan base this week, as they did completed a huge trade to acquire former Defensive Player of the Year and two-time All-Star Jaren Jackson Jr. from the Memphis Grizzlies. Whether this aggressive maneuver will actually lift the team out of Western Conference irrelevance remains to be seen, but it shows that the organization is building toward something.

There are several players on the roster as Lauri MarkkanenKeyonte George and Isaiah Collier who should be important components alongside Triple-J. Two of those guys showed sublime chemistry during Saturday’s road game against the Orlando Magic. Collier launched a pass from the Magic logo to Markkanen for stunning alley-oop.

When he was projected to be a top-five draft pick, Collier posted an uneven freshman campaign with USC and felt like a late first-round pick. The 21-year-old may not be living up to his pre-college hype, but he’s making significant progress during his second NBA season. His playing skills stand out in particular.

Collier is averaging 10.0 points and 7.1 assists in 24.9 minutes per game while shooting 50.5 percent from the field. He showed great court vision on this particular play, connecting with the sharp Markkanen at the perfect moment.
