Isaiah Steward ejected after raising his fist in the face of Bobby Portis

Things were going well good for the Detroit Pistons at the beginning of this season. They entered Wednesday night’s game vs Milwaukee Bucks with the second best record in the NBA at 17-4.

During the third quarter of a fierce battle in Milwaukee, things heated up.

After the foul, Portis and Stewart came face to face, chest to chest. Of course, Portis has built a reputation among the best in the league at getting under the skin of his opponents. It seems his antics have worked again.

As both players began to separate, Stewart raised his fist in Portis’ face. Both players received technical fouls for their actions. One problem for the Pistons, however, is that it was Stewart’s second technical of the game. Because of this, he was kicked out of the competition.

When he was ejected, Stewart had just five points, four rebounds and two blocks as the Pistons led by seven late in the third quarter. From there, the Bucks stormed back to take the lead midway through the fourth. Portis, who logged 29 minutes, is making a big impact. He has 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists and +15 on the floor.

Stewart has mostly come off the bench this season. He is averaging 9.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game in just over 22 minutes. But the former Washington Husky brings more than depth to the Pistons’ lineup. Stewart brings a level of physicality and toughness that opponents don’t always match.

Portis, however, was happy to accept on Wednesday night.
