Isiah Thomas blasts Detroit haters with playoff truth bomb

The The Detroit Pistons are locked in on a strong finish to the regular season, now that All-Star weekend has come and gone. Pistons stars Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren were teammates on the U.S. team that ended up winning the festivities over the weekend, and they’re hoping it’s a sign of things to come in the NBA playoffs in a few months.
Although the Pistons currently hold the number one seed in the Eastern Conference by a wide margin, many doubt their ability to carry that success into the playoffs due to their relative lack of experience.
However, one person who doesn’t accept those worries is none other than the legendary Pistons guard Isiah Thomas.
“It’s not a concern at all,” Thomas said, according to DJ Siddiqui of R.org. “They know how and what I mean by know, they know how to win. Cade Cunningham is probably the MVP of the league. They got (Jalen) Duren, who is an All-Star. They got (Isaiah) Stewart, who could also be the Defensive Player of the Year. They’re covered in every area that they have. They got a great coach.”
Thomas also mentioned that the team is potentially learning from their playoff loss to the New York Knicks last spring.
“I think the playoff experience they got last year playing the Knicks, they’re ready and willing to do big things,” he said.
The Pistons are also helped by the fact that they play physical inside-out basketball that usually translates better in the postseason than in more free-flowing styles of play.
While there are still concerns about the lack of perimeter shooting on Detroit’s roster, the tandem of Cunningham and Duren, combined with the lessons learned from last year’s postseason, could be enough to get the Pistons going in May and possibly even June.
