Jace Richardson demonstrates what a dunk was supposed to look like

The Orlando Magic has representation during All-Star weekend, as a rookie Jace Richardson participated in the dunk contest. Richardson looked good early in the first round, but it was his second dunk attempt that had many wanting to check his safety.

Richardson tried to catch the ball off the board, but too many things happened at once, and he fell straight on his back. He stayed on the floor for only a few seconds, then decided to dunk more safely. He was unable to advance to the next round and it left many people wondering what kind of dunk he was trying to pull off.

Luckily for those people, Richardson had video of him practicing his dunk and landing it. He announced it on his Instagram to show the world what was really supposed to happen.

For his height, that would be nice, and there’s a good chance the judges would give him a good score as well. Regardless, we’re stuck in a “what if” slam dunk moment, and it’s not certain if he can redeem himself next year for the slam dunk contest.

In the end, the Miami Heat’s Keshaun Johnson won the dunk and he, no doubt, had fun during the experience.

As for Richardson, he may have felt bad about how things went, but he’s not the first person to mess up during a dunk contest. All he can do is take it on the chin and keep pushing.
