Jacob Bridgman reveals Tiger Woods remarks

Jacon Bridgman looked proud as he posed next to his shiny trophy afterwards reigning The Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club on Sunday in California.

Bridgeman won for the first time on the PGA Tour, shooting a 1-over 72 in the final round to fend off Rory McIlroy and Kurt Kitayama.

It was also particularly memorable for Bridgman as a childhood hero, Tiger Woods, congratulated him. In a video released by Golf Digest, Bridgman revealed exactly what the golf icon, who hosted the tournament, told him.

“I don’t know what he said when I first walked up the hill. But walking down the hill, he was saying how amazing it was to walk down and see the amphitheater, all the people, how amazing the 18th hole is here, and how great it is to win here, and he said, ‘You got one of me.’ So I guess he never won,” Bridgman said with a laugh.

“I have one thing. He has everything else, but I have one.”

The 50-year-old Woods has played in The Genesis Invitational many times, but the tournament kept eluding him. His best finish came early in his career when he tied for second in 1998 and 1999.

The 26-year-old Bridgeman could only get motivated by his victory, especially when Woods witnessed it up close. Maybe he kept his composure on the last hole, but he admitted that he was “a little more nervous” meeting the 15-time major champion.

“When I was growing up, my earliest memory of golf was watching him on TV. When he was in his prime, I was learning to talk, walk and play golf. I’m still kind of in awe of him,” Bridgeman added in a report by Golfweek’s Adam Shupak.

Bridgman will no longer be nervous now Woods, who has been a mentor to many golfershe noticed him.

It probably helps that he won $4 million.
