As it is The Miami Heat lost to the Detroit Pistons Saturday night, 138-135, there was a key absence in the game that led to a change in the lineup and rotation in Jaime Jaquez Jr., is thriving in its third season. Doc Jaquez brings clarity to the Heat off the bench, he was ruled out for Saturday’s game, but his recent thoughts on the injury are what fans will be excited about.
Although he missed Friday’s practice with a right groin strain that ultimately kept him out of Saturday’s outing, he would return to practice on Sunday. According to Anthony Chang of the Miami Herald, he would say yes “I very much hope so” to return for Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
With that good news and upgrade to “suspicious” for Monday’s game, he said after Sunday’s practice that he was feeling better.
“I feel much better.”. Good rest day, rehab yesterday,” Jaquez said via video from Heat Central on X, formerly Twitter.

So far this season, Jaquez has made a huge impact as the centerpiece of Miami’s second unit, serving as the first person head coach Erik Spoelstra calls up for scorers. Jaquez averaged 16.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 53 percent from the field.
Jaquez offered more insight into the injury, saying it was “less significant” than previous groin injuries that have caused him to miss time in the past, linking the current one to an incident during the Heat’s 106-103 win over the Milwaukee Bucks last Wednesday. He said he felt a “little pull” in his groin on the play in which he fouled Bobby Portis.
It remains to be seen whether Jaquez will actually return despite the hopes ahead of Monday’s game against Los Angeles.
