Jalen Brunson admits Spike Lee caved, but with a caveat

The New York Knicks are back—and rightly so Spike Leewho once again screamed on the court as his beloved team hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.
Lee went home happy as The Knicks beat the Cavaliers119-111. New York was led by OG Anunoby, who finished with 24 points, 14 rebounds and three steals. Jalen Brunson scored 23 points but shot just 5 of 18 from the field. He also had four rebounds and five assists.
After the game, a reporter asked Brunson if he got the usual pregame hug from Lee, who is widely known as the Knicks’ biggest fan. He had his answer bonus tidbit.
“I didn’t get it, but Spike gave my mom a nice gift — one of those Brunson puffer jackets, so we’re even,” Brunson said with a smile, as shown in a video released by SNI.
Jalen Brunson was asked if he got a hug from Spike Lee before Game 1 like Mike Brown did tonight:

Lee has always been close with the players, so it should come as no surprise that he gifted Brunson’s mom with a cool jacket. Meanwhile, the famous director has been spotted wearing a Brunson jersey during games.
The 68-year-old Lee rarely misses a game at Madison Square Garden, even insulting opponents from the field. His unquenchable passion is a reflection of championship-hungry Knicks fans.
The team came close and reached the conference finals last season, where they lost to the Indiana Pacers in six games.
Now, they go to a good start with a win over the Cavalierswho topped the Eastern Conference last season and remains a top contender.
The Knicks will host the Boston Celtics on Friday.
