Jalen Brunson injury, crutches leave fans crying hypocrisy

Wednesday night, New York Knicks sought to maintain their dominant streak of five victories. But with the Knicks on the second night of back-to-back games, it was always going to be a tall order, especially with the more rested Orlando Magic coming to town. Although Paolo Banchero left early due to injuryThe Magic still beat the Knicks pretty easily, 124-107.

But the most striking development after the game is the injury Jalen Brunson. It was already a little confusing why Brunson would still be on the court with the Knicks trailing by 16 points with less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter for the second night of back-to-back games. And then to make matters worse, Brunson proceeded to twist his ankle on a hard drive toward the hoop — exiting the game early.

Just yes worries Knicks fans even moreBrunson reportedly left Madison Square Garden in a walking boot and on crutches, suggesting the ankle injury he suffered is a bit serious.

This unfortunate development has angered Knicks fans on social media. They think that if Tom Thibodeau had still been the team’s head coach and Brunson had turned his ankle with the game already out of reach in the fourth, everyone would have been up in arms. Instead, most fans are quiet now that Mike Brown is in charge — fueling the fury of a portion of the Knicks fan base in the process.

“If Thibs had Brunson down 16 with 1:54 left and he left on crutches, we would have pulled out the pitchforks,” Ks user @knicksdude wrote.

“Bro we fucked Brunson in boot and crutches,” @NISports5792 he added.

“So funny how fast shit changes. Up 20+ last night Down 20 tonight and Brunson is on crutches,” @nisprtsshtpost further.

How will the Knicks handle the potential absence of Jalen Brunson?

As usual, if Brunson misses time with an ankle injury, the Knicks will rely on Myles McBride to pick up the slack. Jordan Clarkson is also becoming a more important player for the team.

The Knicks next game will be on Friday night when they play against the Miami Heat in NBA Cup action.
