Jalen Suggs has a hip contusion after leaving the NBA Cup

on Saturday, Orlando Magic dropped out of contention for the NBA Cup title with a loss to the New York Knicks in the semi-final round of the tournament that was played in Las Vegas. The most troubling news for Orlando coming out of that game is that quarterback Jalen Suggs left the game due to an injury and could not return.

On Monday, Magic got an update about Suggs’ health after the scary moment.

“Magic says Jalen Suggs has been diagnosed with a left hip contusion. No timetable for recovery yet,” NBA insider Marc Stein reported on X, formerly Twitter.

Suggs has been a great piece for the Magic over the years he’s been on the floor, but unfortunately, that’s been a rare occurrence for Orlando.

Suggs has dealt with a variety of major injuries throughout his NBA career so far, and while a bruised hip might not seem like the most serious thing in the world, as Stein noted, the star’s timetable has yet to be announced.

Suggs joins Franz Wagner as the Magic’s starter who was recently injured in games against the Knicks, and if he is forced to miss any extended period of time, Orlando will have to rely even more on players like Anthony Black to initiate the perimeter offense and space the floor.

Overall, the Magic are still in a relatively good place overall, sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference at this early point in the season, but it should be noted that they are only half a game out of ninth place.

In any case, the good news for the Magic is that they will have a few more days off before their next game, which is Thursday night at the Denver Nuggets.
