Jalen Suggs pulls off an extremely rare feat in a win against the Nets

After a humiliating 128-92 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, The Orlando Magic certainly wanted to get back on track in the worst way. That helped Jalen Suggs he was at his best Thursday night during their 118-98 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Suggs, who has missed a lot of time this season with an injury, was a two-way threat, and in the process he stuffed the stat sheet — 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.

What makes this game from Suggs even more impressive is the fact that he posted his first career triple-double in just 29 minutes of action. He became only the second player in Magic franchise history to record a triple-double in less than 30 minutes, joining Elfrid Payton in that exclusive club, according to StatMuse.

Not too many people expected to hear Peyton’s name tonight, but Magic fans will surely appreciate how seeing Peyton’s name will take them down memory lane.

But Suggs is a completely different caliber of player than Payton; he is a much better defender and perimeter shooter. The current Magic point guard went 6-9 from the field (3-5 from deep) on Thursday and added three steals and four blocks, fully showing just how much of a two-way monster he can be when he’s at full strength.

Nthey are not expected to provide stiff opposition until the end of the season, but this is still an important confidence-boosting win for the Magic. They were locked down defensively on the night, clamping down on Michael Porter Jr. and holding him to just nine points on 2-13 shooting from the field.

Meanwhile, the Magic had five different players score in double figures, led by Desmond Bane and Paolo Banchero with 23 and 22 points, respectively.
