Jared McCain admits he broke down in tears after the last ‘haystack’ in his young career

Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain he was in the midst of a stellar stretch last season when he suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee. That prematurely ended his rookie tenure, limiting him to just 23 games.
He wanted to bounce back in his second campaign. Or even just get that sense of relief back by going back to the hardwood. Fate, however, played another cruel joke on McCainafter injuring his right thumb while practicing before training camp. There is still no timetable for his return from surgery.
Opening up about his latest setback, the 21-year-old McCain said he did trying to stay optimistic.
“The universe is throwing lawn mowers at me. But it’s all part of the process. I just have to believe that it happened for a reason,” the 76ers spitfire said, according to a report by Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Levick noted that McCain, who has a pinky brace on his right thumb, will be reevaluated in two weeks.
“I’m going to take this off and have a toy lock. I’m just going to start passing and dribbling and doing all the steps with it. Then we’ll see when they let me play.”
The former Duke star also admitted he became deeply emotional after suffering the injury, describing it as a “weird, stupid little thing.” The 76ers are also dealing with Joel Embiid’s healthPaul George and Kyle Lowry.
“I went to the training room and I cried. I started crying right away. It’s so frustrating when that happens. I knew right away that something was wrong. But after a few days, I kind of calmed down. I went into a depressed state, but I was fine and now I’m back to normal,” McCain said.
He quickly endeared himself to the 76ers because of his fun-loving personality. But he can definitely catch fire on the field. He averaged 15.3 points on 46.0% shooting last season, including 34 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
