Jarrett Allen has a broken finger
Bad news for Cleveland. Already deprived Darius Garland (finger) and Max Struss (foot), the Cavs could be without another important starter: Jarrett Allen.
The pivot was actually injured Wednesday night during a 125-105 loss at Boston that ended the Cavaliers’ three-game winning streak. Jarrett Allen is suffering from a non-displaced fracture of his left ring finger, according to the franchise’s press release. In other words, the bone is broken but still in place.
Examinations carried out on Thursday confirmed the injury, and the player will follow the treatment protocol before Friday’s match against Toronto, counting also for the NBA Cup. He is officially doubtful for now, but given the type of fracture, he could potentially play with a brace.
The pivot is averaging 14 points and 7 rebounds through the first five games, and his absence would certainly be a big blow to his team, even if Evan Mobley can be moved to pivot position, and with Larry Nance Jr or even Thomas BryantKenny Atkinson has options to compensate below the rim.
