Jaxon Dart adjustment New York wants KB to do

Jackson Dart is one of the most promising rookies in the NFL, but one of his best assets may also be his biggest weakness. The New York Giants the quarterback is tied with Josh Allen for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback this season. However, his stubborn running style has led to multiple concussion checks for Dart this season.

Dart sat out the Giants’ game against the Bears again to be checked for a concussion last week. It was the fourth time this season that a quarterback has gone through the concussion protocol. He’s already ruled out for Week 11, with Jameis Winston starts in his place.

Now, the Giants want Dart learn your lesson while you rest. Adam Schefter reports that the team wants the quarterback to reevaluate his running style and learn to play safer.

“During the same week the New York Giants made some major trades, they also pushed for Jackson Dart to strongly consider making some of his own,” Schefter wrote for ESPN. “People inside and outside the Giants organization have spoken with Dart, who remains in the concussion protocol, and have urged the rookie quarterback to be more careful and careful when and how he runs.”

Dart runs hard and fights for every drop when in the open field. It makes watching the Giants quarterback fun, but it also welcomes a ton of injury risk. Where most quarterbacks can slide and be happy with their gain, Dart will struggle to get that extra yard.

The Giants don’t want Dart to risk himself every down, especially as he proved he can be their franchise quarterback. Allen also had a similar running style early in his career, but the Buffalo Bills made a similar request to their quarterback to play safer. Now, Allen fights for a first down if needed, but he’s also more willing to slide and live to fight a second down.

The Giants hope Dart learns a lesson after this concussion. Schefter notes that Dart was “slow to grasp” this lesson, but perhaps being on the bench will force the quarterback to realize what he can do better.
