Jaylen Brown apoplexy because of “freaking call” by refs against Jazz

The The Boston Celtics have sunk deeper below .500 on Monday after being stunned by the Utah Jazz 105-103.
Getting to the finish line was frenetic. The Celtics had a one-point lead with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter when Boston went ahead Jailen Brown he appears to have been tripped by Jazz running back Keyont George. However, no foul was called and the game continued, with Utah rookie guard Walter Payton Jr. getting fumbled and later assisted by Laura Markkanen to give Utah a one-point lead with 44 seconds left in the game.
Celtics center Neemias Cueta later tied the game after going 1-for-2 from the foul line, but the Jazz had the last laugh as veteran Jusuf Nurkic scored on a putback with 0.6 seconds left to give Utah the win.
Just a loss added to the frustration Brown, who couldn’t believe he wasn’t fouled on George, who led the Jazz with 31 points.
“You can’t make a mistake like that as an official at that point in the game,” Brown said after the game (via ESPN ). “It’s the fourth quarter, there’s a minute or less left in the game, and you completely — the whole staff blew it, you know what I mean? It cost us the game. Unacceptable.”
Meanwhile, the pool’s postgame report provided an explanation for the non-return.
“During live play, the crew observed George slip and fall just before Brown slipped in the same spot, causing the ball to become loose before any contact was made,” crew chief Kevin Scott said.
The Celtics, who now have a 3-5 record after back-to-back games losses to the Houston Rockets and Jazz, both at TD Garden in Boston, wasted Brown’s 36-point effort. They also got 18 points from Peyton Pritchard and 15 from Anfernee Simmons off the bench.
As a team, Boston was also hurt by its ice shooting, especially from behind the arc, where the Celtics went just 11-for-51.
The Browns and Celtics have one more home game before hitting the road as they now prepare to face the Washington Wizards on Wednesday in Bantown.
