Jaylen Brown guarantees Stephen Curry won’t beat him 1-on-1

The The Boston Celtics dominated the Golden State Warriors 125–85 on January 20, 2025, service Stephen Curry and his squad their biggest loss at home in 40 years. That result, however, only intensified the conversation that followed. Shortly after, during a recent Twitch stream, the Celtics star Jailen Brown made a crude claim which spread rapidly. “Curry is too small,” Brown said. Then he pressed it further. In a 1-on-1 matchup, Jaylen Brown guaranteed that Stephen Curry wouldn’t beat him.
However, the rapper is Daryl Dwayne Granbury Jr., known as DDG. Shaking his head, he disagreed. Even then, the Celtics star doubled. “In a 1-on-1? Kari doesn’t beat me.” In response, DDG smiled. Brown noticed and asked why. At that point, DDG responded simply, saying he believed Curry could even beat Michael Jordan. Brown shot back, “He’s old.” Without hesitation, DDG did not flinch. “I say in my prime.”
The Celtics vs. Warriors history adds fuel to the debate
This is not just a conversation floating around in isolation. In fact, the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors share real postseason history, and the calendar brings them together again. They have only met twice in the NBA Finals. Back in 1964, the Celtics beat the then San Francisco Warriors in five games and won the sixth consecutive championship. Decades later, the scenario has changed. in 2022, The Stephen Curry-led Warriors defeated the Celtics in six games to win their fourth title in eight years. Along the way, Curry earned his first Finals MVP.
That series still resonates, and this time the tension doesn’t stay in the past. The Celtics and Warriors meet again on Feb. 19 and March 18, dates that now carry extra weight after Boston’s January 2025 collapse. During that Finals run, Curry averaged 31.2 points per game. He dictated the tempo and bent coverage. Since then, Boston has gone 4–6 in their last 10 games against Golden State. Narrow margins. Real tension.
At its core, Braun’s enclosure rests on size, strength and isolation control. In contrast, Curry’s case is different. Space. Touch it. Jumper without limits.
So when it happens again, when the Celtics face the Warriors, will Jaylen Brown prove it against Stephen Curry?
