Jaylen Brown is getting positive news on his hamstring injury

BOSTON — An injury before the season is never a good sign, but it would be especially disastrous for Boston Celtics. C already have to succeed without star forward Jayson Tatum for the foreseeable futureas the six-time All-Star recovers from a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered during the 2025 NBA playoffs. Boston’s other big star, Jaylen Brown also caught an injury bug when he left the Green Team’s preseason finale midway through the first quarter with a strained hamstring.

Fortunately for Boston, the head coach of the Celtics Joe Mazzulla didn’t seem too concerned about Brown’s health scare. In fact, less than two days after it happened during Wednesday night’s 110-108 win over the Toronto Raptors, Brown was at practice in almost normal capacity.

“He could do everything but living things,” Macula said Friday afternoon at the Auerbach Center.

When asked if the longest serving Celtic would be ready to go for the regular season opener in Boston, Macula did not make an official decision.

“I haven’t caught up with him yet,” he admitted. “I expect him to be at his best every day and then we’ll kind of take it from there. But just one day at a time.”

Macula isn’t one to jump into injury reports, but he did hint that Brown’s current situation isn’t dire.

“It’s an everyday thing,” he said.

With the weekend off, the Celtics will have time to rest ahead of their first contest of the 2025-26 campaign, which takes place at TD Garden on Wednesday, October 22. The C’s will square off against the rival Philadelphia 76ers, who have some injury issues of their own.

Nine-time All-Star Paul George is not expected to play against Bostonand NBA MVP Joel Embiid in 2023 is plagued by knee problems. However, the The Sixers’ star center is cleared to play Friday night for Philadelphia’s final preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

With Embiid likely to play on Wednesday, the Celtics will need all the help they can get to counter his scoring. And while Macula might not say it, Boston would not only love it, but probably would need Brown healthy to match Philly’s firepower.
