Jaylen Brown near Larry Bird
Clair des Celtics leader in Jayson Tatum’s absence, Jailen Brown enjoys it. He reached the 30-point mark again last night, for the eighth time in a row. Alone Larry Bird (9) did better in Boston…
It’s clear that the guard/wing has been on his mind this series, and we saw him smiling widely at his teammates when he finally reached 30 points in the fourth quarter, even though the game was already over.
Judging by the footage he took at the end, he was asking for it and you have to give him credit., explained Sam Houserhis teammate. “He’s really exceptional and can score against anybody in this league at will. It’s great to have him as a teammate, that’s for sure.”
Above all, this result is not in vain as the Celtics have won six of the eight games in question.
Good balance
With Jaylen Brown flirting more than ever with a 30-point average (29.4), Celtics are thus in the 3rd place of the Eastern Conference (19 wins – 11 losses), behind Clips and the Nix.
Joe Mazzulla, for his part, assures that he never discusses this type of series with his player. “For me it’s a matter of balance” assures the coach. “He picks the spots he wants to shoot really well. Obviously we’re playing a little bit faster, so he’s getting some easy baskets in transition. But he’s found a balance between attacking and letting his teammates do their thing. So that helps keep his energy up.”
And to attack the right defenders, at the right time, to maintain good efficiency, even if he is on target.
“He spends a lot of time reading the game and how to execute it.” so continues Joe Macula. “And then, of course, he’s very talented. But his willingness to work continuously, facing different defenses, has helped him a lot. It allows him to choose the areas he wants to go very well.”
