Jaylen Brown very angry after the loss to the Nets

Jailen BrownAt the beginning of the weekTHE Celtics dominated Networks at the Barclays Center. This Friday, the two teams met at the TD Garden in Boston, and Michael Porter Jr.’s teammates got their revenge.

The Celtics’ loss was largely explained by a disastrous second quarter, a 25–40 loss. Enough to allow the visitors to reach the changing rooms in the lead, before holding out until the end.

“Be ready to play or don’t play at all”, lambasted Jailen Brown. “That’s all that matters to me. We have to be ready to play. Today we played only mechanically, I don’t understand.”

Boston, however, had a chance to turn the tide. Five minutes from time, the Celtics were only two points behind, before firing again. Nick Claxton then found Michael Porter Jr. three straight times, allowing the inside line to claim the first triple-double of his career and the Nets to regain a nine-point lead. A void that Boston was unable to fill, despite Jaylen Brown’s 26 points.

Lack of hardness

“It doesn’t matter if we miss or hit, we just have to play with energy and enthusiasm, to show that we want to win”Jaylen Brown insists, without us knowing who it is, even if Derrick White was very awkward. “I didn’t feel like that was the case tonight. We’re all getting paid to do what we love. We’ve got to be ready to play or we’re not doing the team a favor.”

The loss snapped Boston’s three-game winning streak, dropping them to a balanced record of eight wins and eight losses. It also seriously threatens Boston’s hopes of qualifying for the quarterfinals of the NBA Cup: The Celtics have actually won just one of their first three games in the competition, before hosting Detroit next Wednesday.

“We have to play with superiority in attack and defense”concludes Jaylen Brown. “We have to be a tougher team. That’s non-negotiable, and that wasn’t the case tonight.”
