Jaylen Brown’s injury concerns are fading before the season opener against the 76ers

Earlier this week, Boston Celtics he was afraid of getting hurt when he was a star Jaylen Brown is gone team’s preseason finale early due to hamstring strain. The Celtics are of course already getting ready to play a full season without superstar Jayson Tatum, knocked out with a torn Achilles from last year’s playoffs, and the last thing they can afford is an injury to Brown or Derrick White.

Fortunately, the team won positive update on Monday ahead of this week’s season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers.

“Jaylen Brown went through practice today in full, per Joe Mazzulla. Last time we checked in on Friday, he skipped the live game stuff. Looks like good progress,” Hardwood Houdini’s Jack Simon reported on X, formerly Twitter.

Meanwhile, Celtics reporter John Kalaris of Locked On Celtics posted a video on X showing Brown getting light reps in Monday’s practice.

“Jaylen Brown is doing light work on the floor. We are awaiting word from the team,” Kalaris reported.

Brown himself also spoke about his injury status.

“I’m feeling great so far,” Brown said, per ClutchPoint’s Daniel Donabedian , adding that he’s taking it “one day at a time.”

Big opportunity for Jaylen Brown

Over the past few years, most pundits have accepted that Jayson Tatum is the Celtics’ main player, although that was called into question when Jaylen Brown won both the Eastern Conference Finals MVP and the NBA Finals MVP during Boston’s march to the 2024 NBA title.

While neither Tatum nor Brown seem to care too much about the public’s perception of things, Brown certainly has a chance to put up some career numbers this year with Tatum (probably) sidelined for the entire season.

This season, there have been mixed opinions about how good the Celtics can really be in 2025-26. On the one hand, they still have Brown and Derrick White, and the Eastern Conference looks as bad as it’s ever been. On the flip side, the Celtics also had to part ways with Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday this offseason, leaving their frontcourt a motley crew of unproven young players.

Either way, Boston will open the season on Wednesday at home against the 76ers at 7:30 PM ET.
