Jaylen Warren, Kenneth Gainwell achieve success not seen in 31 years
Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell made unique franchise history with their dominant performances in Pittsburgh Steelers’ 29-24 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon.
Both running backs were active in the Steelers offense, showing solid chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. For this game, they ended up torching the Lions defense in a lot of ways.
Warren led the rushing attack with 14 catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns while making two catches for eight yards. On the other hand, Gainwell was next with nine rushes for 50 yards while recording five receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Their efforts he finished in franchise historyaccording to reporter Brooke Pryor. Having over 100 scrimmage yards and every touchdown is something the organization hasn’t seen since the mid-1990s.
“Jalen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell are the first Steelers RB duo with 100 yards and a half TD in the same game since Barry Foster and Bam Morris did it against the Colts in 1994,” Pryor wrote.

Pittsburgh needed a win because the team is in a big race for a playoff spot. Beating another contender in Detroit, on the road no less, is huge as the season begins to wind down.
Aaron Rodgers turned in a solid performance as the offense had more presence. He completed 27 of 41 passes for 266 yards and a touchdown.
Pittsburgh improved to a 9-6 record on the season, holding onto first place in the AFC North division standings. They are currently above the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns. As for the AFC standings, they are in fourth place. They are above the Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills while trailing the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots.
With three straight wins, the Steelers will be looking forward to their next game. They will be on the road to face the Browns on December 28th at 1:00 PM ET.
