Jaylen Williams’ friendship revelation with AJ Dibants will have OKC fans rooting for the Clippers
Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star Jalen Williams was seen talking to BIU freshman AJ Dibants, who is considered the NBA’s top prospect, during a recent road game against the Utah Jazz. In the midst of Williams and the defending champion Thunder’s historic 2025-26 regular season streak level to reach 73+ wins, the Los Angeles Clippers‘ fights are disturbing. Oklahoma City owns the Clippers’ unprotected first-round pick in next year’s draft.
Williams, aware of speculation that the Thunder might earn the rights to select Dibanca in next year’s NBA draft lottery, chose his words wisely as talking about his relationship with the BIU freshman, he said, per Justin Martinez of the Oklahoman.
“He’s a really good player, obviously. I don’t even know how we met the first time. I know Thunder Twitter and everyone else in the world is going to do whatever I say, so I’ve got to be careful. Just a good guy. Thunder in town, obviously,” Williams said of the Thunder’s recent game against the Jazz. “Everybody knows about the election and everything that’s going on. I think I met him last year. A lot has happened. He’s just a good kid.
“We were just chopping him up. I think they were playing that day too. So we’re just talking about the game. He got to watch us play. I don’t think I played that game. But yeah, good mate. No crazy talk.”
AJ DiBanza watched Oklahoma City beat the Jazz 144-112 on November 21st. Williams made his regular season debut a week later in a 123-119 win against the Phoenix Suns.
The Clippers (6-20) are tied with the Indiana Pacers and Sacramento Kings for the third-worst record in the NBA.
Jaylen Williams made the most of the Thunder’s loss in the NBA Cup

Thunder All-Star Jaylen Williams is not chasing the Warriors’ 73-9 record despite the defending champions’ impressive 24-2 start, the best the NBA has seen since the Warriors in 2015-16. Instead, he is focused on improving from an individual standpoint and as a team. The loss to the Spurs in the NBA Cup semifinals gave Williams and the Thunder extra days to practice, a rarity during an 82-game regular season.
Williams, whose regular season began on Nov. 28, is making the most of the Thunder’s extra practice time this week.
“It was good for me just because I didn’t have training camp or anything. So I was able to actually practice, which is nice,” Williams said. “So yeah, this was the first time I’ve had back-to-back days where I’ve actually practiced and used both hands. So that’s cool. You don’t get many days like that these days.”
“We’ve got to go through actual practice and kind of have a training camp flow, where we can reintegrate our principals, watch film, just do a whole deep dive into the season, while you’ve been successful. What we’ve been good at; what we’ve been bad at, and we just kind of dissect it, and we can actually work on it.”
The Thunder can improve to 25-2 when they host the Clippers at the Pacon Center on Thursday.
