Jayson Tatum can’t stop smiling as the Morris twins roast the 76ers

Jayson Tatum he didn’t even try to hide it; he lost it completely. Boston Celtics star Tatum was on a Twitch Stream with Marcus Morris and Markieff Morris when the conversation turned to the 2017-18 Celtics. Tatum called that team “the most fun basketball team” he’s ever been on. Then the Morris twins started cooking Philadelphia 76ers over Markelle Fultz trade, and Tatum could only sit and laugh.

“WTF…Sixers still haven’t recovered from that s*t,” joked one of the Morris brothers, as relayed by Celtics beat reporter Daniel Donabedian on X.

Of course, they are not wrong. The 76ers traded up to No. 1 in the 2017 draft for Markelle Fultz. The Celtics swooped down, grabbed Jayson Tatum at No. 3, and walked away with the best player in the deal and additional draft capital. Eight years later, Boston still has its franchise wing; Philly is still trying to piece together what’s next.

Tatum is currently stuck in rehab mode. The three-time All-NBA forward is still recovering from a ruptured right Achilles tendon suffered in last year’s playoffs. Reports say he remains manic about his rehab, attacking every day, even when the Celtics are off.

Boston learned how to survive without him. The Celtics improved to 12-9 after a 123-117 win over the New York Knicks on Tuesday, with 42 points from Jaylen Brown and 22 from Derrick White via ESPN Box Score. Still, every update on Tatum’s recovery sparks talk that he might return before the end of the 2025-26 seasondespite the usual annual time frame for an Achilles tear.

So you understand why Jayson Tatum is smiling. The Celtics “fooled” the 76ers in 2017, then built a title contender around the guy Philly passed on. Now, even as Tatum rehabs, Boston continues its winning streak and the Sixers’ slander continues to write itself.
