JB Bickerstaff, the ideal successor
Currently at the helm of the Pacers, Rick Carlisle was elected president of the coaches’ union twenty years ago and can only be delighted to see DB Bickerstaff replace him.
« JB is not only a trusted friend to many very good coaches like me, but he has also proven himself to be an excellent leader » he explained in detail. ” He had to deal with difficult situations in his career, such as temporary coaching positions. But the job he did in Cleveland, taking the team from the lottery to winning the playoffs, was phenomenal. Then the work he did in Detroit for a year and a half is as much and speaks for itself. He is a great leader and someone passionate about coaching. (…) Congratulations JB, it will be a life changing experience for him, as it was for me. »
After stints with the Rockets and Grizzlies before really hitting it big with the Cavaliers and then the Pistons currently, JB Bickerstaff is the son of Bernie Bickerstaff. Former coach of the SuperSonics, Nuggets, Hornets, Bullets/Wizards and Lakers, who Rick Carlisle would also like to see, one day, in the Hall of Fame.
« We are working behind the scenes to try to help get Bernie honored in the Hall of Fame as a significant contributor to the game of basketball because he has impacted the game in so many different ways… » he slipped.
