Jeanie Buss drops a cryptic look at LeBron James’ future plans

LeBron JamesThe future is currently up in the air as there is speculation that he could retire from the NBA, re-signed with the Los Angeles Lakersor even sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers for next season. With rumors abounding, franchise governor Jeanie Buss weighed James’ future.

Bass, who is 64, argued that selling the Lakers to Mark Walter allows the organization to focus on building around Luka Doncic instead of LeBron James,” says CNBC’s Alex Sherman. LA has found its new superstar, and the franchise is going all in on the future 27-year-old point guard.

“The partnership will give us the stability to continue moving forward as we build the team around Donci,” Buss said. “We couldn’t be more proud of him as a Laker. He’s a young star that fans love to see.”

That leaves James to essentially decide what he wants to do next season. Jeannie Bass claimed that a return to the Lakers is still a possibility. However, it sounds like Buss and the organization will let the 41-year-old forward make his own decision.

“Never say never, but you know, he sure didn’t give a hint,” Buss said of James. “He’s earned the right to decide how his career goes, and you know, he continues to impress.”

Although he only played 36 games this season, LeBron James is still playing at a high level. The four-time NBA champion remains an option for the Lakers when he’s on the court, averaging 22.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game while shooting 50.2% from the field and 30.5% from the three-point line.
