Jeremy Grant, Yves Missy ejected from Trail Blazers-Pelicans game

Game in between Portland Trail Blazers and New Orleans Pelicans on wednesday he warmed up early as Jerami Grant and Yves Missy fought in the second quarter at the Smoothie King Center.

After Trey Murphy missed his three-point attempt, Grant and Missy battled for a rebound. They locked their arms under the basket, which led to a lot of pushing and pulling, and eventually, to a physical confrontation.

Teammates had to break them down, and luckily cooler heads prevailed. Grant and Missy are kicked out of the game. Meanwhile, Sheddon Sharpe and Herb Jones received technical fouls.

Some might argue that the ejections were too harsh because there were no punches, but maybe the referee didn’t want anything to get out of hand.

The injured Pelicans are already without Zion Williamson and Jordan Poole due to injuries, and Mission’s departure certainly won’t help their cause. New Orleans is struggling with a 2-8 recordincluding 1-2 at home.

Grant, meanwhile, was the Trail Blazers’ main weapon off the bench, and his ejection forced the team to find other scoring options. Grant is averaging 19.7 points on 48.3% shooting. Portland is 5-5 on the card.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver has repeatedly emphasized that fighting will not be tolerated, stressing the players’ responsibility to remain professional. But of course, as competitors, sometimes they can’t keep their emotions under control.

Grant and Missy could face hefty fines from the league for their incident.

As of this writing, the Pelicans lead the Trail Blazers at halftime, 59-57.
